I guess we’ll out if the extra inch makes a difference.

This is just what I needed. Hot water heater started leaking one day after my wife had run the dishwasher a couple times in a row. I did a little research and figured out it was the pressure switch so I checked out Lowes and Homedepot online and the part was almost double the price of Amazon and their parts both had lots of complaints. I opted for Amazon and everything worked out great. I was nervous after removing the old switch because the the probe on my old broken switch was about an inch and a half longer. I called a plumber supply shop and pretended I bought it from them and asked if it mattered and they told me that as long as it fit, it would be fine (I know a bit unethical but I was up a creek without a paddle). This switch fixed my leaky water heater and two weeks later everything is working great. I would definitely buy from Amazon again.

After 10 years of use in our 5th wheel it was time to replace our suddenly leaking hot water pressure relief valve so I bought this one. Using the removal socket tool, also ordered on Amazon, the old valve came out with a little mussel and this new one, which already has teflon tape on threads, went in cleanly and snug. Turned the water back on, vented hot water tank to get air out, once filled turned back on the electric heater and within 30 minutes we had hot water again. No leaks, Easy!

Perfect replacement for my hot water heater. The probe length was an exact match of the very old relief valve I took out of my mid-1990s AO Smith unit.

As the old valve was "doped" in it wasn''t exactly easy to get out, but the new one went in without issue.

I thought the quality of the valve was excellent and the price fair. Sold by Camco, but the tag shows it as a Cash Acme (if that matters to the prospective buyer).

In short, very pleased.

5 stars.

It''s a simple device that should only kick in when things have gone wrong. In my case I replaced it less than 2 years ago and it is already leaking. I am running a thermostatic mixing valve which means I run the tank at max temp (140-160 degrees F.) and then the valve mixes in cold water in with the outgoing water to bring it down to a safe 120 deg. this extends the amount of hot water I get without having to upgrade to a larger tank, but the higher tank temp may be harder on this pressure relief valve. I don''t know if they use rubber seals, if it''s all metal then the extra 20-40 degrees shouldn''t matter. I''m going to try a Rheem and see if it lasts longer.

Comes pre-wrapped with Teflon tape, ready to install. It took longer to drain the water, that it did to install the new valve.

Tools used: two large adjustable wrenches (one to hold the valve, the other to unscrew the down-tube) and a toothbrush to clean the threads of the water-heater (well-water nastiness built up in valve area).

Count the turns when unscrewing, to guide you during install. It doesn''t need to be gorilla-arm tight.

Replaced my valve but still leaks a little. Make sure your tank isn’t completely full by bleeding off some water if you have a leak from the pressure relief, it might save you buying a new one (advice I learnt later).

Direct replacement for my RV water heater that was leaking. I ordered this valve with matching socket wrench to replace it. It worked perfectly - 2 minute job. It would have been a real chore without the socket wrench - good value.
